On Friday, 9th May 2025, the historic St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Mdina was transformed into a sanctuary of sound as the Take Four Piano Quartet delivered a captivating evening of classical music. The event was a harmonious blend of artistry, culture, and community support, made possible through FFF Legal’s organisation and generous sponsorship of Tauss Holdings, along with Alberta, ARRC, HSBC, and Verdala Terraces.
Guests were treated to a rich and varied programme that showcased the emotional depth and technical brilliance of the Take Four Piano Quartet. The evening opened with Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G Minor, Op. 25, a sweeping and passionate composition that set the tone for the night. This was followed by poignant cinematic pieces — John Williams’ haunting Schindler’s List and Ennio Morricone’s lyrical Gabriel’s Oboe — which brought moments of stillness and reflection to the candlelit cathedral.
The programme continued with Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 87, a vibrant and melodic work full of Bohemian charm. A powerful rendition of the Passacaglia by Handel/Halvorsen added a dramatic flourish, while Astor Piazzolla’s Oblivion closed the evening with its trademark tango melancholy and grace.
